Busy Week!

I realize I haven’t updated this in a little while, but we’ve been pretty busy lately! We have scheduled my surgery for this coming Thursday, and will be doing an above knee amputation. The reason we are doing an above knee amputation is to ensure that we remove all of the lymph nodes behind the knee. Fluids in your lower leg drain through these, so we want to make sure that they are cancer free. If we try a knee disarticulation we can not be certain that they are clear, so for safety we are going to go above the knee.

But on to more fun topics! Ashley came up on Saturday and on Sunday we went and saw Rain, which is a Beatles tribute band on Broadway. It is basically just a through the years Beatles concert and was a lot of fun. Everyone in the theatre was singing and dancing along with the music and it was a great time. I don’t know that we will ever see something close to the hysteria that surrounded the Beatles when they first came to America. I honestly can’t picture girls passing out from the excitement of seeing a band. I think the closest thing we have to it is Bieber fever, and that is just sad.

On Monday and Tuesday we went to the Westminster Dog Show. We had a great time and it was fun getting to see it in person. The second day was definitely better for us because they had the bigger dogs that we love. I took a ton of pictures, but have narrowed them down to a select few to include on here. I hope you like them!

Last night Ashley and I went out with some friends to Blue Water Grill in Union Square. We had a table downstairs in the Jazz Room where there was live music and great seafood. After dinner we went back over to our friends’ apartment and played with their Xbox Kinect. It’s a really cool technology and takes the idea behind the Wii to a whole new level. There is a camera that watches your body movements and directly translates them to your person on the screen. They are just starting to scratch the surface with what they can do with this, and it is going to be really interesting to see how they utilize this technology in the future!

LeeAnne gets into town tonight, which will be fun. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Rob, you don’t know me but I was a childhood friend of your dear, wonderful mother. I have been reading your incredible blog and your mother’s blog to keep up. I can envision nothing but great things for a multitalented man of true character like you. In my humble opinion, you must be destined for greatness. I pray for you each day and will have you especially on my heart this week. Lots of love to you & your family, Ellen Knox

Rob, You have quite a following of women who have never met you, but I am happy to say that I am no longer in that catagory. Jim and I were so pleased to meet you and Ashley last Friday and can’t help but be inspired by your wonderful spirit and brave outlook. We will continue to pray for you and your family, your medical team and all those who will touch your life as you continue on this journey. Thanks for sharing the dog show pictures. Your parents were responsible for helping us find our first Springer; now you have me very interested in a Mini Bull. If we get one, you will have the honor of choosing it’s name!
All the best and a speedy recovery, Kim

Hey buddy, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow! Hang in there and remember, you got a spot right across from me in the new office waitin’ on ya… We just all got here yesterday, it’s a great spot. Very posh-NYC-Ad-Agency vibe. The main conference room has like a 17,000″ screen dude, it’s insane… (I.E. we will “work late” on Thursdays during football season). We also have an XBox plugged up in the lobby, so we’ll have to get a Kinect!

    Stay strong!
