Today is my final day in the NYU Med Center, and what a beautiful day it is! It has been raining for the past few days, so waking up with the bright sunshine spreading it’s way across the East River was a definite breath of fresh air!
It seems like everything is coming full circle too. The room is quiet and peaceful today. My Italian neighbor’s wife just came over and said hello. She is the perfect, sweetest, little Italian woman you could ever picture and brightens my day when she makes her rounds. The Russian doctor across from me seems to be resting peacefully today as well, which I am thankful for. He has had a rough run, but seems to finally be coming out ok on the other side.
But the absolute BEST part about today: No more chemo!!! I am officially off the drip. We have some other support meds running into my system for the next 24 hours and then tomorrow I go in for a shot that boosts my blood counts. Apparently in about 5 days the bottom falls out of those, so we proactively boost them to try to prevent the dangers of infections that are associated with that.
Thank you again to everyone who is reaching out and praying. It means a lot and I can not express my humility and gratitude for all that you have done for both me and my family. I hope you are all doing well!
